Dear Leader Mcconnell, Leader Schumer, Speaker Ryan, Leader Pelosi,

We are writing to express our support for the “Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act” (H.R. 4174 and S. 2046). As individuals and organizations committed to using data and evidence to improve outcomes for our nation’s citizens, we are grateful for the introduction of this important legislation.

We commend Speaker Ryan and Senator Murray for introducing this bipartisan legislation and applaud their collaboration that created the Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking, whose final report informed the legislation.

These actions demonstrate a strong and growing bipartisan commitment to improving the lives of the American people through the increased use of data and evidence. We believe H.R. 4174 and S. 2046 would help make our government more effective and efficient by building evidence about the practices, policies and programs that will achieve the most effective and efficient results so that policymakers can make better decisions.

For all these reasons, we urge you to work together on a bipartisan basis to pass the “Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act” through the U.S. House and Senate by the end of the year.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,
